The Futures from the Margins conference poster consists of commissioned artwork by artist, scientist, and historian Argha Manna.
Argha Mannais a cancer researcher turned comics artist from India. He explores the historical perspectives of scientific development and social issues through the lenses of an artist and a researcher both, which bridges the gap between academic research and visual storytelling. Learn more about his work here. Manna is an affiliated artist with the CoFUTURES project.
The artwork, titled Home in the Nuclear Winter (2022), uses motifs from Ant Network Theory (2019), a speculative piece by Bodhisattva Chattopadhyay and Geoffrey C. Bowker.
The fonts used for the poster are Alpha Centauri by Ioanna Ladopoulou, the Lexend font by Bonnie Shaver-Troup, and Orbitron by Matt McInerney.
A limited edition print run of the poster will be available at the conference.
